2/14 – Monday  –   A Day – 

Main focus –                                                                                                                                                        
a)  To begin the RATE of Photosynthesis Lab
b)  To decide what your independent variable will be in this Formal Lab!


1.  The Rate of Photosynthesis Lab begins

            a) gathered control data
Use the .2 % solution ( 2 grams in 1000 ml of water).
2. We began thinking about what independent variables you want to test.

2/14 – Monday’s Homework: –                                                                                      


1:  Please use page 1171 of your text to complete these ecology questions in the Ecology form 1. Ecology is the study of organisms and their relationships (energy flow) in their ecosystem.  All organisms obtain free energy in their ecosystems to DRIVE (couple) life FROM the autotrophs (photosynthesizing organisms)!

Ecology Form 1:
We will investigate the concepts that include the flow of energy through all organisms in an ecosystem. This particular form is based population ecology BUT it all stems from ENERGY AVAILABLE for life to exist in an area.  Keep that idea close to your vest when you do ecology.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  You will have one submission and the form is not in auto-reply.      

Ecology Form 1 – 21-22 :


2/15 – Tuesday –  B  Day – 

Main focus –                                                                                                                                                          

a)  To start your data collection using your unique independent variable for the RATE of Photosynthesis lab.

b)  To obtain a ET50 using your control group data.
1:  Review how to calculate the ET 50 for your control group using Logger Pro. 
2:  Back to Lab groups to run your test groups.
      a) Calculate your ET50’s for each trial. 
      b) Start making your data tables and graphs from excel.   
This is for the group with the cellophane color filters:

I tested the cellophane filters and the following light traveled through each of the filters.

Here are the pictures of the wavelengths of the light that traveled through the films:   
-Remember that peaks represent what is getting through the filter that the spinach disks are being exposed to.
Complete spectrum: No filters


Blue cellophane: A lot of red is filtered out but a lot of Blue is emitted. 


Green Filter: Some blue is filtered and some red is but green is emitted.
Red Filter: A lot of greens are filtered but a lot of red is emitted.


Calculate the ET50 and make a graph:

1. Please make another submission to last nights form based on the graded form that I sent back today if you need to.

2. Please complete the Ecology Form 2 – 21-22 with Chapters 53 and 54 in your textbook.

2/16 – Wednesday –  A Day

a) To complete the Rate of Photosynthesis Lab data collection.

1. Finish Test Groups and calculate your Et50’s with each test.

1. Please make another submission to last nights form (Ecology 2).

a)  To gather data collected and begin creating graphs and tables for the RATE of Photosynthesis Lab.
b)  To write your question for the investigation                                                                                                                                                                                 
1. Complete Data Collection
2. Calculate ET50’s and correct them for same number of disks.
3.  Use Excel to build graphs with Errors Bars.

2/17 -Thursday’s Homework: –


1. Please make another submission to the Ecology Form 3 from Last night.

2. Please write a Background, Question, Hypothesis and a Data Section (data table and graphs).

     I have sent you a link to start your photosynthesis lab.

Use the Excel template to complete your data table and graph.


2/18 – Friday – A Day

Main focus –                                                                                                                                                          
a)  To complete the procedure, results, materials, calculation sections of your lab.
b)  To Connect Ecology to photosynthesis concepts.

C)  To Review basics concepts of Photosynthesis that might inspire your conclusion.
